Our Directors & Head Counselors

Here are the key people who manage our camp:

Gary Confer, Executive Director

Gary is the 3rd generation Confer to manage Forest Lake Camp. A former teacher at the Chestnut Hill School in Brookline, Massachusetts, and the Far Hills Country Day School in Far Hills, New Jersey, Gary is responsible for establishing policy and maintaining Forest Lake’s values and principles. He resides year round at Forest Lake Camp.

Chris Stamm, Camp Director

Chris has been associated with Forest Lake Camp for 37 years,  starting first as a Camper, then progressing to a CIT, a cabin counselor, Waterfront Director, Head Counselor, and now is Camp Director, responsible for maintaining the camp’s excellent summer program. In the off season Chris teaches science at the Pine Crest School in Boca Raton, Florida. Pictured here with his wife, Tammy,  Assistant Middle School Director at Pine Crest.

Geoff Blanck, Associate Director

A second generation alumnus of Forest Lake Camp and a graduate of Hobart College and Babson Business School, Geoff has lived and worked in London, traveled extensively in New Zealand and now resides in Waterbury, Vermont.

Tobin Kelly, Associate Director

An alumnus of Camp Tohkomeupog in Madison, New Hampshire, and a graduate of Harvard College and Babson Business School, Tobin worked for 6 years at Bright Horizons, a pre-school educational firm.

Graeme Marshall, Assistant Camp Director

A native of Scotland, Graeme has served at Forest Lake for 4 years, first as cabin counselor, then Assistant Waterfront Director, Head Counselor, and for 2008, Assistant Camp Director. Graeme works in child care in New Jersey in the off season and conducts many of our in-home visits with prospective camp families in the New York area.

George McDonnell, 2007 Boys Head Counselor

George joined the administration of Forest Lake as the Athletic Director in 1999 and has guided the Boys Camp as Head Counselor for the past 6 years. George was a baseball standout at the College of New Jersey where he received his BA in recreation.

Jen Burke, 2007 Girls Head Counselor

Jen first joined the Forest Lake staff in 1996 as a cabin counselor and waterfront instructor and for the past 8 years has been Head Counselor of the Girls Camp. During the school year, Jen teaches in the primary grades in the Caldwell school system in New Jersey and is an avid traveler and fitness participant.

Lauren Perez, 2007 Head Counselor

Lauren is a long time member of the Forest Lake family. She was a camper for many years, moved through the staff apprentice program, became head of the dance program, and was named to a Head Counselor position in 2007. Lauren currently attends Bucknell University in Pennsylvania.

Chris Ramsey, 2007 Head Counselor

Chris is another longstanding member of the Forest Lake community, having started as a camper and moving up to a Head Counselor position in 2007. Chris is a graduate of Middlebury College in Vermont and currently resides in Boston.

Ray Head, 2007 Head Counselor

Ray joined Forest Lake Camp from England in 2005, advancing to a Head Counselor position in 2007 and overseeing the camp’s soccer program. Ray is a graduate of Loughborough University in England and teaches and coaches in England during the off season.
